Context
This lot comes from smallholder farmers delivering to Kilimbi Washing Station in Nyamasheke, near Lake Kivu. The region is known for its high elevation, cool climate, and volcanic soils, all of which help produce sweet, structured coffees.

Kilimbi was established in 2016 and is the first station built by Muraho Trading Co. It is now managed by Joseph Ntarindwa and works with farmers across the surrounding hills, some of whom travel by boat across the lake to deliver their cherries. The station has built a strong reputation for quality and has played an important role in developing processing in the region.

PROCESSING

For this lot, cherries are hand sorted before being dried whole on raised beds as a natural. Drying takes place over several weeks, with regular turning and careful sorting to remove defects and control fermentation. The slower drying at this altitude helps build sweetness and fruit character while keeping the profile clean and well defined.
